About a fortnight ago a petition was received by the Miramar Borough Council, signed by a number of ratepayers, asking that a poll be taken on the question of tho amalgamation of the' borough with the City-of Wellington. As thero were several irregularities in' the petition (though the number of signatures were more than sufficient for the purposes of the Municipal Corporations Act), it could not be given effect to in tho ordinary way, hut as there issaid to be a distinct feeling amongresidents in favour of amalgamation the council has arranged for p. public meeting to discuss-the question in all its aspects, and that meeting will he held at the Miramar Town Hall this evening. . ■
