■ In concluding an article in the December issue of '. the "Constructive Quarterly". (Oxford University Treas); on the Protestant Episcopal Church and Christian Unity, the Rev. W. T. Manning, Reotor of Trinity Parish, New York, holds that the war is making for unity, and is suggesting to. many the relation of a united Christendom to the v hope of a /lasting world" peace. May I not one result of the war (he asks) be an .'opportunity, .without precedent in history for. some such effort, some such coming- together of the Christian forces as the 'World Conference on Faith and' Order proposes? Assurances of support for the; movement have ; been received from high dignitaries of the Eastern Churches, and the,; matter is under favourable discussion fin the Holy Orthodox Church of Russia. The proposal lias also received the warm commendation of many eminent dignitaries of tho Romaii Catholic Church, and through the Papal Secretary, the Pope recently exprtssetl liis personal interest in it with the assurance of his prayers for the right guidance of the undertaking and for its "" prosperous issue. Different aspects of the problem of church union are dealt with by other contributors.. Principal Forsyth, contributes a striking article on "Lay Religion."' Professor C. 15. A. Winslow; a leading American authority on public health, writes 011 "the neutrality of the Churches in the War Against Disease," to which paper Major-Gen-eral W. C. Gorgas adds some valuable comments. A' number of other articles by well-known authorities on the subjects dealt with complete an interesting number.
