ARRIVAL OF THE ULIMAROA
RETURNED SOLDIERS WELCOMED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. -Christohurch, April 21. The transport Ulimaroa, with a large number of invalided soldiers, arrived in Lyttelton this afternoon, and a welcome was extended to them by the' Mayor of Christohurch and others and largo crowds of relatives and friends. The northern ipen leave by the ferry steamer to-night, and the southern by the first express to-morrow. DUE THIS MORNING. The contingent of 120 returning sick and wounded soldiers, ex the Ulimaroa, at Lyttelton, will arrive in Wellington by the Mararoa this morning. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) will tender the returned men a civic reception in the Customs Shed, Queen s Wharf, instead of in the Town Hall, as was done in previous cases. The Right Hon. W. F. Massey and Sir Joseph Ward will be present at the welcome. Mr. Luke invites as many returned soldiers as possible, and the publio to be present.
