Tlio following extract from a letter written by the Norinanby Recruiting Committee to the Recruiting Board is o? value as showing the opinion that lias been formed of the Recruiting Boards • scheme in a district where the roll has been verified and amplified and made as perfect as possible, •and! a. thorough personal canvass made 1 of every man of military ago on tlio roll:—"We have to I'eport haviiic secured a fair proportion of recruits ant feel confident that if a thorough canvass is mado_ under the schema 'there need be no difficulty in securing in all districts adjoining ours the necessary number of recruits." This confirms the experience of other districts where the board's scheme is now in full operation. Mr. I?. G. A. Cooper, S.M., opened an inquest yesterday in connection with the death of Dorothy Virginia Martin, at Kemvyn' Terrace, Wellington South, ou Tuesday. After some evidence had been heard, the inquest was adjourned until after liaster, for the medical witnesses to be called.-
