April 11, at Heath House, Petersfield, Hants, of Captain Andrew Hamilton Russell, aged 79 years, father of General Sir Andrew Russell, and brother ,of the late the Hon. Sir W. Russell Russell. The late .Captain Andrew Hamilton Russell was born in England, and came out to New Zealand as a child with his father, Lieutenant-Colonel tho Hon. Andrew Hamilton Russell. After spending a few years in Hawke's Bay, he went 'Home ■to Sandhurst, and later returned to New Zealand, attached to the 14th Regiment, but he afterwards exchanged to the 58th, his father's regiment. In the early 'sixties, in conjunction with his brother, Sir William, he took up land, first at Redcliffe (Taradale), and afterwards at Flaxmere and Tuanui. He returned to England about 1880, where he hits sinoe Uved. Much sympathy, is extended to General Sir Andrew Russell in the loss of his father.
