A BOARD INGHOUSE GUTTED, . By Telegrapli--i'r;"-f'.A'socifitin. Auckland, April 8; t A two-story boardinghouse in Gladstone Street, owned by T. H. White and occupied by Airs. M. Impey, was gutted by fire last night. There were thirteen boarders asleei> when the alarm was given. 1 All rushed into the,street in their night attire. George Storey, aged forty, employed as a clerk m tho Postal Department, returned for his. trousers and was overpowered by smoke. His rescuer found him enveloped in flame and badly burned. Ho was taken |tc the hospital. 'Bis condition is serious, but his injuries are not expected to prove fatal. The insurances are: House, in the South British office, £450 j furniture, in the Standard office, £50.
