A Red Cross fair was held at the Carterton District High Schcol on Friday afternoon, and proved a great success, the takings' amounting to between £50 and £60. v
At the annual meeting of the Wairarapa Egg Circle the following committeo wns elected for the ensuing year: — Messrs. H. H. Armstrong and W. Tucker (Carterton), A. Murray (Greytown), 11. 0. Jarrett and Jas. Sillars (Masterton); hon. auditor, Mr. M. Maxton (Greytown); secretary and treasurer, Mr. H. M. Boddington (re-elect-ed) ; delegates to the New Zealand Poultry Association Conference, Messrs. H. M. Boddington. and R. 0. Jarrett.
Tho Wairarapa Automobile Association has decided to put mile-posts from Foatlierston to the top of the Rimutaka Hill. The distance from the post office to the first bend) round the Summit is seven miles, y The Wairarapa South County Council intends to let a contract for 2000 yards of metal on the Gladstone Road.
The Railway Department-has advised the Wairarapa Automohilo Association that the dangerous crossing at the Bank of New Zealand corner, Featherston, is receiving attention. The Department at the suggestion of .the association is purchasing a part* of tho hank section, removing the iron fenco and cutting down all the trees and. shrubs which now blocked the view. Tho association has expressed the keoiiest satisfaction that the trouble is being dealt with.
Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., will hold a clearing sale of Jlr. P. O'Donnoll's stock at tho Eketahuna stock yards un March 23.
