At the request of the Petone Borough Couuoil, receiving postal boxes have been erected at tho corner of the Esplanade and Patrick Street, and at the corner of Cuba and South Streets. At gf'ftie last meeting of the council comment was made on the speedy and satisfactory answer of the. Postal Department to the request.
At the Petone Council yesterday, before Messrs. G. London and A. Coles, J'.P-.'s, .Richard (alias Isaac) Waters, (SiargeS with assaulting Emanuol Floyd, was convicted and discharged. On a further charge of assaulting Sarah Floyd, Waters was convicted, and fined '10s., with 12s. costs, in default 14 days' imprisonment.
Messrs. Swan and Swan, F.N.Z.1.A., architects, have accepted tho tender of Messrs. Haddock and llassall, builders, of Martou, for tho erection of the new Club Hotel, Marton, the contract price being £4350. 'l'he building, which will be of brick and _ concrete, two stories Viiph eontaining thirty-five rooms, will be one of the most up-to-date hostolrieo in tho district, being fitted with tho most modem convcnE ences throughout.
