THAT MAGNIFICENT GRAND THEATRE.

Sir,—The following letter- has been received by Mr. H. Met* Kingi, of Putiki, from, the "Proprietors, of the Grand Picture Theatre." Several of • tie well-known local Natives have, re-' ceived similar letters. The Natives consider they have won a bloodless victory against .the proprietors of , the "Grand," but they have no intention of patronising or. financing the "Grand" unless they receive a public apology through the medium of the local papers, as they have been publicly insulted by the proprietors of the "Grand.", The . Natiyes cannot understand why the proprietors of the "Grand" rescinded their resolution. I wonder why? Is it for. sympathy for us? Surely, not; perhaps that, is better known to themselves, as I. understand the '"Grand" was reserved exclusively for the pakeha.. I take it for granted they have admitted the Maori to the "Grand," which l shows we iave won the day.—l am, etc, * ••'■■■ , HENARE PUMIPI, . . georetary, for the Wanganui Tribes. . TVangamii, March 6. [Enclosure.] Wanganui. Feb. 13th, 1916. !To Mr.-H. Mete Kingi, Pntiki. . :•. . ' ■_ Dear Sir, —I am, writing to inform you that' the resolution prohibiting the Maoris from the Grand lias been rescinded. I am sure -you will appre- * ciate ibis move, whicb I am pleased to announce to you. I trust the feeling you have against me will now cease, and the cordial feeling of the past will again be extended to us.. Thanking you in anticipation,Yours faithfully, W. S. DUSTIN. !
