Rathbone, late second officer ol the Willochra, has returned from leave, and has joined the Maitai as second. Mr. G. S. Bodley, assistant purser of the Mararoa, has come ashore. The Victoria, -with 280 tons of cargo to discharge here, will arrive from the south this morning. Sho will leave for, Sydney, via East Coast ports and Auckland, late in the afternoon. The F. and S. liner Essex -will not arrive from Wanganui until to-morrow; Sna was oxpected here to-day. • Tho Kaitangata will not leave for Westport until this evening. She is due back on Saturday. The Corinna, is to arrive from New Plymouth to-day. She will leave for Dunedin direct to-morrow. Owing to the Nelson races, the Pateena ■will not leave Nelson until S o'clock tonight. 1 She will. leave Picton at 2 o'clock the following morning, arriving hero about 6 o'clock on Friday morning instead of on Thursday night as usual. Upon her arrival from the Sounds on Saturday, the Blenheim will go on the Slip for' her annual overhaul. Coal-laden for Wellington, the collier Karori left Newcastle at midnight on Saturday, and is expected to arrive hero about. Saturday morning next. The following telegram has been received by the London Chamber of Commerce from the British Consul at Panama: —"Waiting ships have been passed through Panama Canal. Following substanca of statement of Canal authorities: 'No prediction of probable opening can be made, and it is desired to avoid premature resumption of taking ships via Panama Canal in order not to cmbaraee work, and be cause we might be unavoidably delayed for an indefinite period. Advice • will be given promptly when shipping should bo notified to use canal.'" Due here to-morrow from Auckland, the Tarawera, is bringing 333 tons of cargo to discharge. She will leave for tho south later in the day. The Blackball Coal Company's Ngatoro left last evening for Wangaiuii. From there sho proceeds to New Plymouth. The Koutunui is expected, from Napier to-morrow to load oil from the Golden Gate. She will depart for Napier the fol-, lowing day. The Koutunui comes in place of the Kiritona, which was reported on Tuesday to bo coming. The Maitai will arrive from' the south this morning.. She is advertised to leave for Sydney at 7 o'clock this evening.
