Tho child was 13 years of age, and was only in Standard 11. Defendant stated that lie found it very difficult to provide for his family unless the children worked. The truant officer asked for a substantial penalty, adding that past warnings had had no effect. The Magistrate stated that defendant must see that his children were properly educated, and imposed a fine of 10s., with 7s. costs. In the judgment summons caso AY. Hutchison w Alfml Lothaby, defendant was ordered to pay the amount of £8 Gs. Cd. on or before April 12.
