TOBACCO FOR SOLDIERS
. « GENEROUS FIRM AT CAPE TOWN. Messrs. P. Hayman and Co. have re« ceived information of a very generous gift of tobacco made to returning New Zealand soldiers by Messrs. Hermann and Canard, tobacco merchants, of Cape Town. On the' arrival of the Rotorua there the firm sent on board 207 pa-roels, each including a tin of ;'Dreadnougkt ravy cut, a tin of "Invcta," and a pocket of "Officers' Mess" Virginia cigarettes. The offiocr in charge (Major JMclier), in acknowledging the gift, stated that it had been highly appreciated - and. mtu'i enjeyed by officers, n.c.o. s, and mgn. Similar gifts, which axe only typical of the treatment our invalided men receive on all'hands, hnv« been made by the same firm to all New Zealanders passing through Cape Town.
