Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., presided at-a sitting of the i'otoue Court, held yesterday. David Marshall, James Green, mid Thomas Collins were each fined os., with 7s. costs, for being ou licensed premises after hours.' On a further cnarge' of giving a false name, Collins was lined Ifis., with 7s. costs. Edward 6. Collatt and George Simmons, for using threatening behaviour in a public place, were each lined 10s. with 7s. costs. i''or failing to attend drill, John Cameron was lined 10s., with 7s. costs. The father of a youth who was charged with failing ,'to register for military training, explained that he' had religious objections to allowing his son to register, adding that he could not recognise earthly laws where he considered that they wero not in agreement with tho law of God. The Magistrate stated that he would not convict in this instance, but would giv© defendant another opportunity. He must register, and afterwards apply for exemption. Sergeant-Major Stewart, who represented the military authorities, stated that seven days would be allowed, but the father replied that he could summons as soon as he liked. At a sitting of the Potone Juvenile Court yestorday, two boys under 16 years of age were cautioned for being in possession of air rifles, and five others for using air rides were cautioned and discharged. \ . Judgment by default was given in the following undefended civil cases:— W. L. Jcivness v. A. Uolton, 155., and C;. costs; George Jones v. same, £3 Is. 6d., costs 65.; Mary Rule v. J. Connolly, 65., costs us.; same v. S. Ross, 205., costs ss. In the judgment summons. case, 0.Johnson v. David Silbury, defendant was ordered to pay the amount of £9 11©. 6d. on or before March 1.5, 191.6, or in default receive 10 days' imprisonment.
