WATERSIDE WORKERS
PROPOSED AGREEMENT REJECTED
In connection with the negotiations which have been in between the employers and the local Waterside Workers' Union, the manager- of the Wellington Co-operative Labour Employment Association (Mr. Bennett) has received tho following letter from the secretary of the Wellington Union (Mr. J. G. Bruce):—"l have to inform you that a meeting of the Wellington Waterside Workers' Union, held in the King's Theatre yesterday afternoon, again discussed the proposed agreement. The decision of the meeting was to reject the agreement, .as the stipulations re working after 10 p.m. cannot bo accepted." Mr. Bennett has replied, acknowledging the letter. Advice has been received that lOamaru, Timaru, and New F.ymoutli have ratified the agreement.
