THE PRINCIPAL AWARDS. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Pahiatua, February 11. . The seventh annual show of the Pahiatua A. and P. Association was he'd to-day in glorious weather, the attendance being the largest j;et seen on the ground. The entries in some classes were slightly behind last year, due to clashing with the Dannevirke and Marton Shows. Sheep: In Romneys'thero were better entries, and the previous year's good quality of stock exhibited was maintained; In the competitions there were no accidents, and the results wre as follow :— Best Boy Rider.—Rex Davy. Best Girl Rider. —Ethel Johansen. Ladies' Driving.—Mrs.' H. M. R-ow, I; Miss Angus, 2. . Pony . Jump.—W. Scott's Colter's Chestnut, 1: Oswald Johansen, 2. Maiden Hunter's Competition—Mrs. L. Johansen's Coronella,' 1; G. Scales, L. Johansen, 3. Open Hunter's (Rose Bowl).—D. 0. Smith's Bell, 1; J. J. Guerin, 2; N. Avery, 3. Ladies' Hunting.—J. Guerin's Saltation (Miss Walsli), 1; D. 0. Smith, 2; Mrs. L. Johansen, 3. Consolation Jumping.—J. Guerin's Saltation, 1; N. Avery, 2; Mrs. Johansen, 3. Motor-car Tilting. Competition.—Mrs. H. M. Row, 1; Miss Mabel Whitcombe, 2; Miss Whitcombe, 3. HORSES. Draught Horses.—First Awards: A. M'Farlane,-C.*Avery, A. M'Kinlay, B. Harvey, N. Bicknell; other tickets: S. Bolton, A. M'Kay, F. H. Brown. Saddle Horses—W. Howard Booth's Lonely won lady's liack, ridden by Miss J. Angus, and list, hack, getting a leg iii for the Studebaker Cup.. D.. M'Lagan's Dolly won the cob and remount events. , Pony Classes. —Kenneth Small and S. Turnbull were first-award winners. Harness Classes.—S. Turnbull, Cyril M'Cardle, and B. Clarke. Best Milk Cart Horse.—A. M'Kinlay's Nugget. SHEEP CLASSES. flomneys were the best represented In the sheep classes. The prize-money was well, distributed, Alick M'Kay securing twe firsts, four seconds, and fine third;.A. D. Eglinton, two'firsts and one third; W. Mitchell, two firsts and one third. Other prize-winners were: R. Halliburton, Forlong, and Suisted. Lincolns.—H. It. Wilton was the most successful competitor, securing three firsts, one second, and ong third;
Chas. Avery two firsts, three seconds, and three thirds; Forloiig and Suistcd one first each; It. j\l. Burns, two seconds and one third. Southdowns. —Kcnnerly and Co. took all the first awards, the only other competitor being H. It. Wilton, who showed one sheep, and got a second prize. In the farmers' utility class good sheep were penned. W. E. C. Tylee's nine sheep were well spoken of by tho judge. _ A, M'Kay was second, and I!. P. Smith third. Fat Sheep.—First prize-winners in fats were: A. M'Kay, A. D. Eglinton, and L. Johatisen; other tickct winners being: Chas. Avery, S. Jl'Leod, A. M'Kay, P. Bissett, and W. E. C. Tylue. Heaviest Sheep.—S. M'Leod, 2461b., 1; P. Bissett, 2341b., 2. DOGS. There were three classes of dogs. 31. F. P. Lloyd secured two firsts, Miss Benison one first,' Trevor Hughes two seconds; other prize-winners being: Donald M'Kay, W. C. Brown, and J. Wills. CATTLE CUSSES. The cattle entries were limited, the best competition being ill dairy cattle. Dairy Cow (in milk). —E. Harvey, 1; Ij. Polglase, 2; T. Hughes, 3. Bairy Heifer (in milk). —M. Alpass, ljß. Barley, 2. Dairy Heifer (in milk, under three years).—M. Alpass, 1 and 2; George Brown, 3. Two Dairy Heifers.—E. Darlcy, 1; M. Alpass, 2; F. Cresswell, 3. Two Dairy Calves.—George Brown, 1; F. Cresswell, 2; S. Alpass, 3. The milking'competition was won by last year's winner, L. Polglaso, who has won tho cup outright. The heifer milking competition was won by C. J. liobinson, who gets a legin for H. Cowan's silver cup, donated this year. Jerseys.—There was a small penning. F. Cresswell secured two firsts and one second; W. White Scott, L. Polgkse, and G. Bottomley, one first each; George Brown, two seconds; M. Alpass, one second 1 and one third. Holsteins.—First prize-winners were: 31. Alpass, H. R. "Wilton; P. Nielsen, and T. Checkley, the latter securing two seconds.
