WAR PENSIONS.
At its last meeting the War Pensions Board dealt with 42 cases —14 from soldiers and 28 from dependants. Of the soldiers, six were granted pensions totalling £338 per annum, seven were granted temporary allowances representing a payment of £188, and ono application was declined. Of the dependants, 23 wero granted pensions and five of the applications were adjourned. Of the six pensions granted to soldiers, four were for £1 a week, one for 355. a week, and one for 15s. a week. Of the 23 dependants who got pensions, one was the mother of a lieutenant, who was granted £1 a week ; .another was the wife of a private, who pot the full pension of' £65 for herself and £13 for each of her four children, totalling £117. Up to tho present the board has dealt with 318 soldiers and 538 dependants, and the following are the _ results: —Soldiers: 99 granted pensions, 128 granted allowances, 35 rejected, 17 adjourned, 39 awaiting the board. Dependants: 463 granted pensions, 3 granted allowances, 38 rejected, 9 adjourned, 25 awaiting the board. Annual payments are as under: 99 soldiers draw between them £5143 per annum, an average of £51; 104 wives draw between them £9222, an nv» r ago of £88; and the other 359 dependants draw annually £10,840, an average of £30 per pension. This makes a gioss total of 562 pensioners, who draw annually £25,205, or an average of £44 per pension. Jh addition, l3l_f.llo'.v--ances represent a payment of £3517.
