RETURNED SOLDIERS
THEIR HOSPITAL TREATMENT POSITION AT ROTORUA. The Minister of Public Health (the Hon. Cr. W. Russell) mado a statement to a reporter yesterday with respect to the new King George V. Hospital at Rotorua. "Everything," remarked the Minister, "is proceeding satisfactorily. It will bo remembered that when 1 asked tlio patriotic societies for assistance in tho equipment of the hospital at Kotoma I promised that tho money wliieh was raised would be devoted to tho purpose. In addition to the . equipment ivhich is already provided within tho building, I have to-day given instructions for the erection of a hall to adjoin tho.. building. This hall will bo 60ft. long and *20ffc. wide. The intention is to use this building as a. liljzary, recreation room, or, if necessary, for religious services, lectures, and so forth. Four water tanks, with a capacity of 4000 gallons each, are being placed on an elevated platform for the dual purpose of fire prevention and qf ensuring the continuity of the water supply for the camp. The spaco below the platform will be converted-into a workshop, whero the men can bo trained, /or can amuse themselves in carpentry or any other suitable employment. "Accommodation is also being largely extended at the infectious diseases hospital at Rotorua, in order that we may be in a position to deal adequately with any cases which may occur."
HOSPITAL AT HANMER. The Minister added ■ that arrangements are now being made for the erection at Hanmer of a duplicate in every respect of the King George V Hospital at Rotorua, , and as soon as the building was completed and ready for use the same policy would be carried out, namely, the whole of the staff would be orderlies.
