EDUCATION BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING,
The monthly meeting of the Wellington Education Board was held yesterday, when the following members were present:—Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, in the chair, Sir W. Buchanan, and Messrs. C. M. Luke, D. Moss, Allan, W. H. Field, J. Freeman, A. W. Hogg, and J. Kebbell. Resignations were received from tlie following teachers Mr.; L- D. Gait, sole teacher, Muhunoa; Mr. K. Holdaway, solo teacher, Waione; Mr. W. Givanj solo teacher, Korora; Miss I. Halley, assistant, Jit. Cook Girls'; Miss R. Wolff, assistant, Masterton. On the recommendation of tho committee the following grants were authorised:—Makcrua, cement concrete floor in shed; Northland, concrete wall; Lansdowne, shelter _ shed for hoys; Honours Board; Kilbirnie, painting roofs of school, residence, and sheds; Brooklyn, landings on path, asphalt, etc.; Berhampore, wire paper baskets; Greytown, top dressing; Carterton, asphalting; Masterton, destructor; Masterton caretaker, grant on account of work during spring school. It was decided that the urgency of additions at Wadestown and Lansdowne, and the necessity for increase of grant at Hataitai, be strongly represented to the Department. Regarding the Northland site improvement it was agreed that the committee should give the suj\ of £22 now in hand, and arrange tor all the filling and surface improvement required. The following tenders were accepted: —Worser Bay, painting, W. J. Monkhouse, £37 iOs.; Kilbirnie, roof-paint-ing, school' and residence, W. J. Monkliouse, £14.On tlie motion of the chairman tne recommendation of the appointment of Mr. A. J. Graham to Brooklyn School was approved, as was Miss Fellingham's transfer from the Kahutara School to another school, and that of Mr. F. L. Combs from Mauriceville West to Fern ridge.
