Christohurclt, January 24. There is very little new wheat offering on the niarket, and what is bein" bought is for fowl feed, the tales during the last few days being at. ss. Id. to ss. 2d. at country stations. Oats are also scarce, and no further sales are reportwl. ■ BaTley.—The offering varies considerably in quality. .Prime malting barley is very sfcarce, and sales have been made at 4s. to ss. 6d. at country stations. Thin grain fit only for feed is practically unsaleable, as growers are asking too much. Some prime samples of Son-th, Australian and Victorian barley have been offered. The quality is very much better than the best locally grown this season. , Cape barley from Gisborne and Hawlte'sBay is being imported for seed for sowing this autumn. The quality is *ery good.
