THIRD READING PASSED BY 383 VOTES TO 36 The High Commissioner reports: London, January 25, 12.30 a.m.... "The Military Service Bill in its third reading has been passed by 383 votes against 36." LABOUR AND THE BILL'. A REMIT TO THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE. (Rec. January 25, 8.30 p.m.) London, January 24. The annual report of the British Labour Party shows a membership of 2,093,000 (the highest on record), a 6 compared with 1,707,000 last year. The Socialist societies comprise 32,800 members—a slight decrease. After referring to events regarding the question of jnilitary service, the report states that • opinion, as to the merits of the Compulsion Bill is divided, and as the National Labour Conference will be held shortly, the matter will be remitted to the . conference for its decision.
