KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL
At last night's meeting of the Karon Borough Council there were present: The'- Mayor (Mr. B. G. H. Burn), and Councillors A. Hamilton, W. Skegg, R. Faire, J. G. Raine, and W. C. Cooper. A, month's leave of absence was granted to-Councillor R. T. Pell, who is on a visit to the West Coast. .The Town Clerk read correspondence that, had passed .between the council and the Tramways Traffic Manager in regard to a complaint that a conductor had on a recent Sunday issued the wrong class of tickets. The Traffic Manager's letter enclosed a copy of the instructions, which had recently been issued to conduotors. After hearing these read, the Mayor remarked that he though'/, councillors could sympathise with any conductor who made a mistake in/carrying suoh complicated instructions. Councillors agreed, and it was resolved that the letter be received..-. - Mr. P. D.-Hoskins;-' secretary of the x Catholic Picnic Committee, wrote, forwarding cheque for the use of the Park on Boxing Day, and expressing satisfaction with the Park as a picnic ground, and also appreciation of the assistance rendered to the committee by the borough engineer. . The letter was received, the Mayor remarking that it made pleasant reading. The secretary of the. Karori School Committee wrote, asking if the borough engineer would undertake the work of removing the trees from the schoolground. On the .recommendation ofthe_ Public Works Committee, it was decided to reply that the work could be undertaken about February 15. A letter was received from the Karori Golf Club, asking if the council could carry out the work of draining the new golf links on the Burrows Estate, Main Road. According to estimates, the work would cost £22 18s. 4d. It was agreed that the work should tie carried out if the club would guarantee the expenses, connected therewith.
