TARANAKI ST. METHODIST CIRCUIT

Thei Rev. j., G. Chapman presided over a meoting of church officials, when the annual report and balance-sheet; were read. Gratification was expressed at the buoyaut state of the churoh's finances. The balance-sheet showed the income for the circuit to be £1324 7s. v 9d.; £154 had been raised for foreign Amissions; collections had been made for Methodist orphanages, Deaconess Training Home, Trentham. Methodist' Institute, the Benevolent Fund l , and for various patriotic purposes. The income for trust purposes was £1989 los. Id., showing a credit balance of £278 6s. lid. on the year. ' The report showed the various activities of the circuit to be in a healthy condition. The Bible Classes were well attended, and.the interest in them sustained. The three Christian Endeavour ' Societies are doing good and useful work. . The Young I'coplo's Literary and Debating Society nad had the most "successful year since its formation. The . Social Clubs for Young Men and Women had supplied a felt want. A Ten-, nis Club 'had been started during the/ year, which was well patronised by tho young people. The congregations we do well sustained, and showed an' increase ing tendency. • ■ Complimentary reference was made to, tho Rev. J. G.. Chapman's pulpit ministrations, his strong, forceful and evangelical •preaching bomg much appreciated'. The conference having sanctioned the extended appointment of ministers beyond the fivo years' limit in- special cases, a memorial was read, to be submitted to conferenco, praying for Mr. Chapman's reappointment for a sixth year. The splendid work of Srster May at' the Aro Street-Mission was referred to, and she' received tho meeting's hearty, congratulations. . j The Brooklyn Church', in spite of . many removals, was a cause, and the Rev. J. Wliito received, a unanimous invitation to continue his ministry for another year. ' Messrs. W. E. Redstone and G. Tiller wera appointed to represent the circuit at the forthcoming conference to bo held in Auckland, the Rev. J. G. ; Chapman being the district represents* tive.
