ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
INQUEST AT PONGAROA. ■ The Superintendent of Police has been advised that the Coroner (Mr. E. J. Gothard) held an inquest at Pongaroa on Tuesday, concerning the death of Donald Fraser, a farmer, 46 years of age, whose body was found in a woolslied at Puketoi. Death was evidently caused by an explosive cartridge placed, m the mouth and ignited by means of a fuse. A verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned. FRACTURED THIGH. W. Ross, of 174 Ohiro Road, was admitted to the Wellington Hospital yesterday suffering from a. fractured thigh, the result of an accident. SHOT BY HIS WIFE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Rotorua, January 12. Yesterday afternoon, Arthur Swayne) carpenter, while sitting in his room, was shot by his wife'with a revolver and wounded in the left forearm. The wound is not serious. The woman lias been mentally affected for some time. This morning she was 'ordered to the Avoudale Mental Hospital. COAL MINER KILLED. Reef tan, January 12. A, miner named George Scott was killed by a fall of coal in the Big River I coal-mine to-day. j
