The local office of the Union Oorifpany has been advised that It.M.S. Maitai arrived at San Francisco from Wellington, via Island ports, on January 4. She, is scheduled to leave on the return trip to-day —two days late—and is due here on January 29. WAIHORA DUE AUCKLAND JANUARY 9. Both vessels were expected to get away for London at daybreak to-day. Continuing her journey from Grcymouth tho Arahura left Westport at 10 a.m. yesterday. She was to have left Nelson at 10 p.m., anj was due here between 6 ana i 7 o'clock this morning. Although the F. and S. chartered steamer Westmeath arrived at Gisborne on Wednesday no work could be done on account of heavy rain at that port. 'l'hc K'amona, will be taken, round to the Patent Slip to-day in order to undergo overhaul and survey. New Plymouth and West Coast cargo will be taken in at Wellington by the Karu to-<l'ay. . Prom Gisborne the Shaw-Savill Ifner Kia Ora comes on to Napier, thence Wellington-, where she is due'on January 10 and 11. The Opawa was to have left Liverpool on January 4 Tor Australian and "New Zealand ports, and she will be followed by the Otaki From Tokomaru Bay ,tlie Nerehana will proceed on to other coastal ports to con. t-inue Homoward loading. The liner will return to Wellington to complete, sailing for London in about a fortnight's time. Th 9 hoys of the training ship Amokura, who are at present enjoying their midsummer vacation, will return to their ship on Wednesday next. On January 14 the Amokura. will probably leave foi a cruiso to tho Kermadcc Islands, and will subsequently return to Auckland. It is anticipated that tho three-masted scow Arrah-na-Poguc will liave competed discharge of her careo of timber, in order to soil for North Auckland to-morrow. With a Quantity of wool for tanshipment to the Dalmore the coastal steamer John is due horo from Timaru to-day. Later in the day the vessel will sail for Wanganui. , . On account of tho pa-rade of troops through the streets to-morrow, the departure of the Nikau for Nelson and Motueka has been postponed till 5 p.m., instead of 2 p.m. as usual. Leaving Wellington for London last evening tho C. and D. liner Star of India took away the following cargo from this port:— 4209 bales of wool, 6609 orates cheese, 285 casks tallow, 366 cases frozen sundries, 35 sacks frozen sundries, 327 oasks veal, 559 quarters beef, 1400 carcasses mutton, and J453 carcasses lamb.
