Senator Poarce quoted extracts from a hook published by George Turner, recently the German Consul-General, entitled "The Awakening of the People of the Pacific." Turner declares' that ho visited many villages where only ono person, spoke English. As he left ho could hear them singing "Deutschlaud Über Alles." He states that the Australasian colonies havo ripened into •Socialistic States, working strenuously towards tho severance of the last link binding them to the Motherland. It was not on account of England that they had rendered military assistance, but because they wanted Samoa and N T ew Guinea. Turner concludes: "The aijury.has made Germany wise. Her hiture colonial policy will be different jo what it has been. After victory ire will bind on the helmet tighter."
