Failing "acceptance for Red Cross work, she purchased soldier's clothes, stole aboard at Sydney, and hid in a boat. Failing to provide food, she had to come out, and was detected. She will be returned to her home in Newcastle. Tho object of the cscapade was to see lier soldier brother in Egypt, and secure Red Cross work at the front. WHARF LUMPERS' STRIKE. FEDERAL WHEAT SHIPS HELD UP. (Rec. December 28, 8.40 p.m.) Melbourne, December 28. The wharf lumpers at Williamstown have struck for 2s. par hour, and are holding up Government wheat ships.
