MILITARY CHANGES
SEVERAL PENDING CAPT. RICHARDSON JOINS RIFLE BRIGADE Some changes in New Zealand military staffs are ponding. One of these is of considerable importance to the Wellington Military Distriot. Captain Richardson is relinquishing tho office of General Staff Officer to the Wellington Military District, to take a- post in the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, the 3rd and 4th battalions of which have been in training at R.angiotu, and which will go on active service in due course. Captain Richardson is an experienced officer well-known in Wellington, and in many other parts of New Zealand, fie served in the South African War, and has' the Queen's Medal with four clasps. Before joining the Wellington Headquarters Staff, Captain Richardson was stationed in the City as adjutant of the sth Regiment. Captain Richardson will be succeeded as General Staff Officer at Falmerston North by Captain T. W. . M'Donald, formerly connected with the Senior Cadets. Captain M'Donnld was at one time Mayor of Lower Hutt. When Lieutenant-Colonel V. H. Smith leaves .with tlie 3rd and 4th battalions of the Rifle Brigade, Rangiotu Camp, will be under tho control of LioutenantColonel F. T. Bellringer, of New. Plymouth, who will bo tho permanent camp commandxint. Lieutenant-Colonel Bellringer was formerly town cleric at New Plymouth. The transfer of Major J. E. Duigan from the position of general staff officer, Auckland military district, to the command -of the Tunnelling Company of Engineers has necessitated some changes in the Auckland headquarters staff. No' permanent appointments have yet been made, but in the meantime Major J. E. Barton is carrying on as general staff officer, and Captain H. L. Garland is acting as A.Q.M.U. • Lieutenant E. T. Rawlings, late of the Wellington: Battalion, Main Expeditionary Force, who was wounded at G-allipoli and while recovering lias been doing duty at !Taulicrenikau Camp, has been detailed to Auckland for staff work. Major D. J. Sweetzer, lately of-the Northumberland Fusiliers, who acted as captain and adjutant at the Avondale camp, has been ippointed adjutant to the new camp at Feat'berston, with tjhe rank of major. He will take up hie duties on December 28.
