Passenger traffic, on the railways proraises to bo particularly brisk during the noxt fortnight. Hitherto the railway authorities have had to make their arrangements "on the blind" to a certain extent, but now tho Central Bureau in Willis Street affords the Department a criterion as to what tho traflio out of Wellington is likely to be during the Christmas and Now Year holidays, as the public very properly is taking the precautions of tickets a day or so ahead. The bureau staff lias beeu kept exceedingly busy since Monday- issuing tickets over all lines in New Zealand, but, in particular, over the Main Trunk line and the branch which has Rotoroa as a terminus, and the money taken over the counter is the very best indication of the appreciation by the public of tho convenience that oxists in the bureau, both for the securing of tickets before the day of departure and for obtaining particulars of all train arrangements.
