CATHOLIC PICNIC BOXING DAY

'A combined Catholio picnic, organised by the fourCCitsy s parishes of Newtown, St. Joseph's (Te°ATo), St. Mary's (Te Aro), and Thorndon, and under the auspices, of the Catholio Education Board, will take place at the Karori •'Park, which is an.ideal spot for such functions. An attractive programme of athletic events, both adult and juvenile, has been arranged, and the committee has been.: fortunate in securing soriie novel " and' very interesting' side-shows. A special/programme of dancing has been Arranged, and the Waterside Workers' Band will enliven the proceedings with .their music. The tea kiosk will 'be under the management of the ladies of the Hibernian Society. An excellent tramway service is being arranged .by tho tramway authorities, and cars will be leaving Courtenay Place > every ten minutes, or more frequently should the trafGc offer. ' Arrangements have . also been made with the tramway authorities to accept the picnic tickets, which cost 2s, This ticket entitles the holder to , a return trip, as well as admission to the grounds. Another concession given by the authorities is that of enabling the holder to transfer from any of the tramway routes to the Karori Park cars without payment of,', additional • fare. Soldiers in uniform .will be admitted free to the grounds;- ■ The proceeds of tho picnic will be devoted to the Catholio Education Fund.
