GIFT OF £1000
» ■ FOR OUR SOLDIERS AT THE FRONT. 1 Without any ostentation Mr. Percy A. M'Hardy, of "Be'aulieu," Palmers- ■ ton North, has forwarded a chegue for £1000 to the Y.M.C.A., Wellington, as a Christmas gift "for our soldiers at the front." He sugcests that •' the money should be cabled to the association's headquarters in Egypt and that . the money to distributed in the form of comforts and assistance "as far on towards the trenches as it is possible 'for your men to proceed.. I do not look for any return as to how the money ■ is spent (adds Mr. M'Hardy), knowing your organisation will do its best to distribute to the 'best advantage. My. : wish is that the money be expended in > the hope that it'may give some relief to the sufferings of our gallant men who have gone forth to hold for lis j all we treasure most precious." He concludes by thanking the Y.M.O.A. "for the noble work already done."
