The competition in connection ivitH\ tile Petorie CTnit for the shield presented by Mr. H. J. Palmer, was concluded last evening, at the recreation ground, Cap* ' tain Lynskey and Lieut. Findlay acting as judsps. After_ the various sections ' had executed their drill, the platoon, marched to the drill "hall, where Cap* tain Lynsky congratulated..the men oa their good work, and tendered some ad« vice in respect to squad drill. Lieut<Anderson, 0.G., then announced the to* tal results, which were as follow :—No/ 1 Squad: Attendance, 124; shooting, 110 6-7; drill,. 121; total, 355 5-7; . No,' 3 Squad:' Attendance, 128J- j ' shooting. 114 5-7; drill, 111; total, 3543-14. No; 4 Squad: Attendance, 74;" shooting, 103; drill,'9o; total, 267.: No. 2 Squadi Attendance, 99i; shooting, 67 2-7'; drill/ 89; total, 25511-14. In presenting tha shield to Corporal Smith for "No. D squad, Mr. H. J. Palmer stated thai; the spectacle witnessed on the recrea*. tion ground that evening was magnify cent froip & civilian's point of view. Thawinning squad was loudly cheered, and tho announcement that Corporal Smith had won a medal presented by Captain Lynskey was received with loud ap* plause. '
