ENEMY OFFENSIVE REPULSED / By Telegraph—Press Aseoolalldn—Copyrlehl London, December 4, 7.5 p.m. The High Commissioner reports:— Petrograd reports: During _ the German attack on Podcherivitchi, on the left of' the Styr, the Russians at first retreated and then retook the. station. At the village of Semka, oil the left of tho Styr, the-enemy were dispersed by artillery fire. The enemy offensive at Berkost was repulsed. CERMAN OFFENSIVE. BROKEN BY RIFLE FIRE. (Rec. December. 5, 11.30 p.m.) Petrograd, December 5. A Russian communique states: "A German offensive south of Lake Sventen broke down in the face of heavy riflefire. Our artillery inflicted heavy losses at Semki, on the left bank of the Styr. The enemy, fled in disorder. "We dispersed large Austrian forces "south of Novalexmets." x RUSSIAN SUCCESS. • HUGE CAPTURE OF STORES.. . (Rec. December 5, 11.30 pan.) Cenova, December 5. Reports from Kadom state that the Russians carried twenty kilometres (S£ miles) of trenches on the Tukum road, capturing seven hundred great stores of victuals and .munitions, and four hundred horses.
