RIFLE CLUBS

FORMATION OF A UNION. A strong union of l iflo clubs lias been formed, and at a meeting lield recently, President Mac Donald, of the Highland Club, was elected chairman, and Deputy-President Slaughter, of the Suburbs Club, was elected treasurer and secretary. The union lias been formed with tile object of bringing the different clubs into closer touch with one another, and to provide machinery so as to enable thcni to act' conjointly, quickly, and effectively, should the occasion ever arise. Also to promote friendly, rivalry amongst the different clubs by means of teams' matches and competitions, and generally to elevate the rifle club movement as an effective unit of defence by stimulating and extending the knowledge of rifle shooting. It was dccided to inaugurate champion teams' matches extending over two days for senior and junior teams. The senior teams to shoot over ranges 300, 500, and 600 yds. the first day, and 800, 000, and 1000 yds. tile second day. The junior teams to shoot over 300, 500, and GOOyds. on both days, and the teams making the highest total aggregate to win. The following officers were appointed: —Range officers, Oaptaiu Wiiloughby (chief) and Captain Hobbs, and C. S. Godber; trench officers, W. M. Jackson (chief) and W. Cowan and R. Bolland.
