Consentient on tho war, it appears that athletics will live only in spirit in small portions of Otago for the time being.. The Clutha Caledonian .Society decided not to hold its animal sports at Balclutha on Boxing Day; there is every indication that the Kaitangata' Athletic Society will allow its Christmas Dav fixture to lapse; whilo the Clinton Caledonian Society is modifying its outing on New Year's Day to a combined picnic and sports; with the prize money considerably rodftnetl. 'Hie proceeds of (his gathering will be donated to patriotic funds, while tho Balclutha Society is selling its membership tickets for this year in aid of the F ;, /Mands and Islands of Scotland Relief Fund.
