A story of heroism and self-sncriifco has readied tho Defence Minister concerning the death of Able Seaman Bruco Sidney Baglev, of 11.M.5. Philomel. It was on the occasion when a detachment from tho ship was lauded to take part in some fighting ashore. It is reported of Bagley that in the retreat to tho ship, when in distress himself, he gave up his. opportunity of riding on a mule to another man, and continued to walk until ho dropped. "Died in his tracks" is the phrase used in tho This man had been previously specially mentioned for meritorious service.
Mention is made also of Lieutenant U'itzadam Millar, R.N., who was in chargo of tho detachment. This officer, it is reported, displayed much zeal and ability in command, and in carrying out the retirement under very difficult conditions, showed untiring energy and devotion to duty. Lieutenant Millar has also been previously mentioned for carrying out a difficult retirement.
