SCHOOLS' READING COMPETITION
The annual reading competition for prizes offered by the Wellington Shakespearean Club for pupils of secondary schools took place at the Technical College on Saturday morning. There were ten candidates from the various schools, eight being girls and two boys. The judges made the following awards: —Gir.ls: , Margaret Kitson, 92 points, I; Florence Churohill, 89 points, 2. Both those girls are pupils of the Wellington. Girls' College. In the boys' section the awards were made as undor:—K. Stronach (College), 69 points, 1; N. A. Bums (College), 68 points, 2. The readings by the oandidates showed that much care had been shown by all in the prepared reading, which was fair to good throughout. With the exception of the two placed girl candidates and .Burns, however, the sight reading was .very uneven.
