PHILOSOPHICAL SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING. At the animal meeting .of the Philosophical Society last night, Mr. T. King, F.R.A.S., presided, and there was a good attendance of members. The annual report and the statement of accounts were adopted. The report traversed the business transacted at tho different meetings throughout the year. In all, some sixlectures had been delivered before the society, and some twenty-two papers presented to it. The roll of membership at present contained 168 names, including those of 10 life members, ai:d of six members on active service.\ It had been decided earlier in the year that all members proceeding, to the Front shall retain full privileges, of membcrsliip during their period of active service, and shall not during the period be required to pay any subscription. The statement of accounts showed a credit balance of £35.95. 5d., and a sum of £122 2s.- lOd. standing to tho credit of tho Hamilton Memorial Fund. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow: —President, Mr. Thomas King,. F.R.A.S.; vice-presidents, Dr. C. M.' Hector, M.D., B.Sc., F.R.A.S., and Dr. J. A. Thomson, M.A., D.Sc., F.G.S.; council, Messrs. C. G. G. Berrv, G. Hogben, F.G.S., C.M.G., E. Parry. M.1.E.E., A.M.1.C.E., Dr.- L. Cockayne, F.R.S., Prof. H. B. Kirk, M.A., Prof. T. H. Easterfield, M.A., Ph.D., Dr. C. A. Cotton, D.Sc., Messrs. B. C. Aston F.C.S., F.1.C., P. G. Morgan, SI.A., and S. H. Jei^kinson; secretary and treasurer, Mr.- A. C.
