OVERWORKED DOCTORS
AT CAIRO GENERAL HOSPITAL. By TcleKTauli.—Pre&s Association. Auckland, October 21. A letter was received to-day from Lieutenant-Colonel Parkes, commanding the New Zealand General Hospital at Cairo, in which ho describes tho heavy work' entailed and the great strain placed on their resources by extending the accommodation from 250 to 600 beds. Lieutenant-Colonel Parkes points out t'hat instead of 25 doctors, which is tho military establishment for 800 beds, they had, when he wrote on September 5, only seven, which had been provided for the original stationary hospital of 200 beds; In consequence the medical staff was greatly overworked. The commander warmly praises the whole staff, who were cheerfully working long hours under very unpleasant climatic conditions.
