Hernoesand (1182 tons), and Delelfaen. It is rumoured that four others were sunk. A Danish captain says that the British submarines pop up everywhere and disappear again with an alertness which proves an intimate knowledge of the difficult waters. He has seen several Eiiar the minefields. TWENTY STEAMERS IN A WEEK. (''Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) (Rec. October 21, 5.5 p.m.) London, October 20. British submarines in the Baltic have sunk twenty steamers during tho week. Eight were sunk yesterday. Many steamers are taking refuge in the harbours. BRITISH LOSS IN MERCHANT SHIPPING SUBMARINE TOLL TO DATE. London, October 20. The Financial Secretary to the Admiralty (Mr. M'Namaia) stated in the House of Commons that _ 183 British merchantmen and 175 fishing boats had been lost through attacks by German submarines since the beginning of the war. GERMAN CLAIMS. (Rec. October 21, 8.10 p.m.) Amsterdam, Octobor 20. Berlin claims that a German submarine in September sank 29 steamers of a tennage of 103,315, seven fishing' vessels, and two transports. Mines destroyed. six- steamers.
