MIRAMAR BOROUGH AFFAIRS
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL-. A meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was lield last evening, the following being present:—The Mayor (Mr. F. Townsend) and Councillors S. M. Stone, S. H. Underwood, H. Hawthorne, and J. Pollock. In reply to a request that the 12.21 p.m. aud 1.6 p.m. cars from Lambtou Station to Miramar bo made "through fare," tho traffic manager of tho Wellington Tramways stated that as a "special" is run ahead of the 12.21 p.m. Miramar car, tho request could not be granted. With regard to tho L.6 p.m. car, tho request has been granted as from October 9. Regarding the request that a stop-ping-place Be placed near the entrance 1.0 the mv golf house, the tramways manager notified that a "stop on request" sign would be placed on a polo about 250 yards from the city boundary. In granting this concession tho manager said that it must be •understood that the Tramways Department of the Oity Council retains '.vie right t/> withdraw this particular stopping-place if at any time it is found that the number of passengers using it is not sufficient to warrant its retention. The power station engineer's report . <tated that considering the _ circumstances under which the station has lieen placed everything has worked satisfactorily, with the exception of a few stoppages which it was impossible to avoid. The engineer further stated that uc could not report any great progress on behalf of the contractors with the new lines,, their delay in completing same having thrown a great deal of extra work on the station staff."
