On returning from Ma-sfcerton to Aivaptini, G. Price was of opinion that his horses could not do much fast ra rk on the tracks there, and he ncciden to on immediately to Trentham. tie arrived here on Saturday with SedditlBahr, Expect, Pariform, Bertrada, Nystadt (Finland —Pas Seul), and tho English colt Panmure. All of tho members of the team are looking big in condition on account of the fact that Price lias not been able to do quito as much work with tlieni as he would have wished. Nystadt is a remarkably fine type of two-year-old, with a beautiful disposition. Panmure appears to have thoroughly settled down , to the new conditions in his adopted country, and is one of the best feeders in. the stab'o. He seems very well at present, and can' certainly gallop fast.
A. Oliver motored from Palmerston to AVellington yesterday to fulfil riding engagements at the Trentham meeting. Chortle, Multiply, and Mnltaino aro mow •at Trentham. At the conclusion of tho A\ 7 elliugton Racing Club's meeting Chortle may be sent north to Ellerslie for the City Handicap, and then he returned south to compete in the Stead Gold Cup at Riccarton. The placed horses ill the Canlfield Cup are all imported animals. At Riccarton on Saturday Sir George Clifford's AA'cllesley Stakes candidate, Good Hope was accompanied home over the last couple of four furlongs by the Martian colt AVinterbonrne, and he completed' the full distance creditably in 50 3-oscc.' The English apprentice, T. Metcalf, had two mounts at the Masterton meet, ing last week, and acquitted himself well. Battle Eve, who is engaged, in the Wellington Handicap wlitli 7st. 71b., galloped freely over seven furlongs at Riccarton on Saturday, and had no difficulty in disposing ot Harlequin on the journey. C. Emerson has been engaged to ride Taringarautu at .Trentham and Riccarton ' wnen tho weights permit of his services being availed of, .
