: <y— DAREDEVIL CAREER. TRAGICALLY •- ENDED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyriabt Sydney, October 7. Lance-Corporal Foster told the story of Sapper Carlyon. "One of our officers was sniped by a Turk,. and Carlyon went out ana brought him in on his back. He was recommended for the Victora Cross, but two days later was killed in his own dug-out by being struck by a fragment of shell. . • • "Ho was'a real hero. -Everyone in my section looked'up to liim, even more ■ than to. the officers. He would climb ■ the parapets and Land over the wounded, or do anything else. He was a rare daredevil.
