CONFERENCE AT AUCKLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, October 7. The Conference of the Baptist Union of New Zealand was continued to-day. The Hev,. R. S. Gray, the union secretary, submitted a report. This stated that the of the churches had been maintained with fidelity. Three new churches had been opened during the year at Smithfield (Wanganui).Mount Albert (Auckland), and Island Bay (Wellington). Several of the churches had formed Young People's Societies, and the growth of that worn generally has' been a most hopeful feature of the year. The Home Mission extension work had' been carried! oh in the Whangarei district with success. The Manurewa Children's Home, a property representing an- outlay of £9800. had been opened during the year, free of debt. At the present there were 47 children in the home.

The membership of the churches showed a slight decrease on last year's figures owing to the revision of the rolls. Members of the churches and congregations had; responded with intense loyalty, -to. the; calPofcEmpire. Auokland, October 8. Mr. Anton submitted the report of the 'Wellington or Central Auxiliary. This stated, that the work of the Churches had been hampered l owing to the number of men who had responded to the Empire's cali.. The Central Auxiliary had joined with the Presbyterians, Congregationalists, and Methodists in'having an: undenominational institute at thte camp. The Patriotio Association of Wairarapa is making itself largely responsible for the oommodious building, and the auxiliary might have to provide £200 towards the cost of the building, and also aportion of the expenses of upkeep. They would also require to provide for the comfort of our boys on the Hospital Ship. A deputation from the Ministers' Association was warmly welcomed, and entertained at lunch.
