Sir, —I . have been rather interested, iu the sayings of a 6mall section of the community, which has been doing a certain amount of deputationising lately. I see .that they, call themselves 1 'representatives" I May I ask through your valuable paper whom they claim to represent? v Also, when and by whom they were appointed? One lady claimed' before the Victoria) College Coimcil to represent "those women of Wellington, who are interested in educational - matters." I have heard of no ■meeting of . sucli women for the purpose of ap; pointing a representative. One tiling further, • is it because there are so many legal mon in this" "deputation" that it. so persistently draws a rod herring across tho. scent. Is not tho real' question at -issue-.this: • Are. we' justified in. employing in - a position of _ great reBpoiisibility • tin enemy subject' .with "sentimental" feelings towards our powerful and -unscrupulous foe,, to defeat whom our men are pouring out their life Mood? Can not these people; bettor employ both their leisure and their eloquence-in trying to rouse those of their own conntryinen who remainapathetic?.
