POLICE CASES. ' Several police prosecutions were taken yesterday morning before Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, .S.M. An elderly man, named Robert Collier, pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness, but denied having assaulted Mary Amu Foreman, a married woman, from whom the accused had been renting a room in Tarannki Street. It appeared that the police had been called to tho house on Wednesday, and on arrival there had to force an entry. Jlrs. Foreman was found on the floor iwitli Jicr fnco badly bruised, while Collier was found hjiling in a closet. The assault had been witnessed by three bovs, whose evidence was forthcoming against the accused.
