ATTACK ON SERBIA AUSTRO-GERMAN BATTERIES IN ACTION THE ENEMY'S CLAIMS By Telegraph—Frees Association—CapyrljW New York, September 20. 'A Reuter message states that the German War Offico announces a successful attack by Germans upon Serbians. (Rec. September 21, 9.25 p.m.) Amsterdam, September 21. An Austrian official communique states:—"The Austro-German batteries bombarded the Serbians on tho south banks of the Save and tho Danube, and also Belgrade. Wo surprised and destroyed advanced detachments on the Drina estuary." . (Rec. September 21, 10.30 p.m.) ■ London, September 21. 'A Berlin wireless message states that tho German, artillery commenced a- bombardment of the Servian positions on the south bank of the Danube, near Semendria, driving off the Servians and silencing their batteries.
TURCO-BULGARIAN TREATY (Rec. September 21, 4.35 p.m.) London, September 20. Bulgarian journals state that the Turco-Bulgariau Treaty assigns to Bulgaria two thousand square miles as a reward for the neutrality she has hitherto maintained, but without political engagements. In consequence of the treaty the plans of the German General Staff have undergone certain modifications. TRANSFER COMPLETED. (Rec. September 21, 9.25 p.m.) Athens, September 21. Tho transfer of Turkish territory' in Thrace to Bulgaria was completed today. Rumania and the_hun menace PREPARED FOR~DETERMINED RESISTANCE (Rec. September 21, 4.35 p.m.) London, September 20. "The.Times's" correspondent at Sofia says that it is stated on the best authority that Rumania is absolutely resolved to oppose by determined resist: ance'aiiy violation of her territory. Rumours of tho intended formation of a new Ministry under M Margkloman and M. Careg are cui-rent in Bucharest. These have apparently been circulated by adherenls of_ Germany. It is not likely that the King would entrust tlio so politicians with power at tho present juncture.
