The departure of the Shaw-Savill R.M.B. lonic from Wellington for London has been postponed till 3 p.m. to-day. The liner is proceeding via Sydney and South Africa, R.M.S. TAINUi REPORTED. According to advice received by tho head office of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Co., R.M.S. Tainiuii, which left Wellington on August 26 for London, continued her journey from Monte Video on September 14, NEW YORK'SAILINGS. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., local agents for tho U.S. and A. Line, have been advised that the steamer Canastota will take tho loading berth at New York on November 10 for New Zealand aud Australian ports. The local agents for .the A. and A. Line have been advised that the chartered steamer Parattah has been fixed to leave New York on September 28, via Panama Canal, for Lyttelton and Dunedin. A projected departure from New York for Auckland and Wellington, via Panama Canal, about the end of August, was the A. and A. Line's chartered steamer Riou. Tho local office of the company has had no word as to the vessel's departure. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. J. M'Conville, engineer of tho Kapuni, .having come ashore, Mr. C. Naithsmith has rejoined the vessel. Captain W. 'Nicholas has rejoined the Opawa, and Captain W. Deeley lias ed to his former position as mate. Mr. G. B. Brown, acting-mate has come ashore. . Mr. G. ' Mr. J. Ormiston; who was well known as chief engineer of the Union Company's Monowai, and. who has since retired from the company's service, left Wellington for Sydney by tho THimoa'oa last evening. Mr. Ormiston is proceeding to China to see his sou James, who is chief engineer of a company trading in the E«st. Mr. Ormieton's second son Robert, is at present in camp with tho Trentham Regiment. Bad weather on the West Coast has. been responsible for delaying the Union Company's To Anau. She is not expected to leave Duncdin for Wellington, via way ports, till Tuesday next. Port should be made on Friday, ticptemebr 24, and departure will be taken for New Plymouth and Wast Coast ports the same day. It is anticipated that the A. and A. Line's chartered steamer Batsford will have 'completed discharge of her New York cargo at Port Chalmers in time to leave I there for Mel b our jig to-day. I After' an absence of several weeks the Mararoa made her reappearance at Wellington yesterday. She left for Lytteiton last evening, having' relieved the Monowai in the Wellington-Lyttclton ferry run. Owing to the large amount of offering for the Maiama yesterday that vessel's departure from Wellington for 3an Francisco did not take place till lato last evening. For the purpose of undergoing overhaul at Auckland the Rarawa will be relieved by the IMmu in New Plymouth-Onehunga service for a weeli or two. At 6.15 a.m. yesterday the Huddart-Parker steamer Victoria arrived at Auckland from Sydney direct. The vessel will make one more trip to Sydney before coming south again. Ou account of bad weather at Waitara the New Zealand Shipping Company's Waimato has been delayed at that port. She is due at Wellington this morning to complete, Homo loading and will probably leave for London on Saturday. Over 100 applications have been received for the position of secretary of the Merchant Service Guild recently, vacated by Captain D. J. Watson. These are being considered by the Guild Committee, and itis expected that, a final selection will be made during the week-end.
