DUNBDINIS ATTITUDE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dunodin, September 10. , The Patriotic ■ Executive met ■ this •morning to consider the report of the , sub-committeo oil the proposed scheme for a national fund.'The : roport stated that it considered Mr. Skerrett's scheme impracticable, and! the Otago Patriotic Association was definitely -<x>mmitt«. the principle of local control and j administration. The committee saw no reasons for departing/from this, being convinced that .the .most effective and economical administration could be obtained by each association having complete autonomy. Ultimately the executive resolved: 'That if tho conference to be \held in Wellington is- an .open ■ one ■ to""send~ delegates,v but ; if it * 9V committed to Mr. Skerrett's scheme I it is'inadvisable-for the Otago Associa- i tion to be represented."

•OPEN TO' FULL; DISCUSSION. , : ,Us^. ; TelenraDh.—Press Association.) ■ ' m . ~ .Dunedin, September 10. ihe Mayor received a telegram from the Mayor of Wellington to-night, stating that the • conference of Patriotic Associations on September 15 will permit full discussion, and accept any more suitable method i of .funds than already .suggested. Tie Mayor of Wellington. (Mr. J. P. Luke) received the.following telegram from Dunedm yesterday' afternoon"Otago will! send delegates to. Patriotic Conference on the, lsth, ouly on condition that it is 1 open to full. discussion of best method of -. ad-, ministering fund, and not for piirpbse of considering .'Mr. Skerrett's scheme only,' .which we do not approve of." The Mayor stated to The Dominion that the-fullest, opportunity will be gWeu'.for discussing-, the question from -all.:aspeots. 'As far as he is concerned,' and it is understood that Mr. Skerrett takes up a similar attitude, Wellington wishes to give every chance of having matters settled in the best interests of thos? concerned. . If ■ this; is prevented, the impediment will not , come from Wellington. :
