NATIONAL RESERVE
MINIATURE RIFLE RANGE SHOOTING. ; _ Two teams representing the AVellington South branch of the National Reserve were the guests of the Miramar Reservists, at 'the.. latter's miniature rifle range on Monday last, when an enjoyable evening was passed seeking for the elusive bull's-eye. A contest between the two braiiches resulted as followsMirainar A Team, 532 pojnts; AVellington South A Team, 345 points; Miramar B Team (4 ineu)j 221 points; AVellington South B Team (6 men), 127 points. The marked difference between the teams appears to have been due to the fact that the losers were accustomed to shooting on an open-air range in daylight and the peculiarities of an indoor range with artificial light were unfamiliar to, them. Two handicap matches were also got off during the evening, the winners being Mel. Stuart 70 (received 9), and A. E. M. Rowland (scr.)67. There was a marked improvement in the general bearing of the Miramar Reservists at Tuesday evening's parade. The men wero keen on their work and their interest did not diminish when on completion 6f the ordinary squad drill they were called upCii to undergo half a!n hour's physical drill.
