TWO IN QUESTS. Two inquests were hold at the Magistrate's Court by Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M. The first concerned tlio death of i a young child, 13 months old, named ' Thomas Twohill, the son of Mrs. Twohill, a widow. The ovidence showed that tho child took ill in its ' pram while its mother was cleaning out the Phoenix.lnsuranco Company's on Saturday last. Dr. Gilmer gave evidence that the child's death was due to convulsions, the result of teething. A verdict was returned accordingly by tlio Coroner. The second inquiry concerned the death of a married woman named Mary Elizabeth Rolfe, who died at her residence, No. 10 Sage's Lane, on Saturday. Dr. Gilmer gave evidence that deceased died from heart failure, and a verdict "was returned accordingly. Deceased was 48 years of.age,'and a'nativo of Kent, England. , ! T •FOUND FATALLY SHOT. An inquest was held at Bluff concerning the death of Frank B. .Mac Donald, aged forty-three, a married man, .who was found in'his office fatally shot. The ovidence showed that deceased borrowed a gun to shoot dogs which were causing annoyance. Apparently when taking the gun from a shelf it exploded ana the charge entered "his head. A verdict of accidental 'death was returned. A FALL ENDS FATALLY. ' Whangarei, August 31. Ths extraordinary circumstances surrounding the death of Arthur Webber, until a, few ■ weeks ago residing at Pietou, wero the subject of an inquiry at Whangarei to-day. The evidence showed that deceased liad been employed at the Whangarei Freezing Works on July 15, 'and, was working on a plank, which broke, and the deceased fell 10 feet on to concrete. On August 10 he com-, plained, of pains in the stomach; and was sent to the Whangarei Hospital. Paralysis developed, when,an operation took, place," and it was found deceased had cracked part', of his backbone. Tho verdict was that .death was due to ascending inflammation of tho spinal fcord, the result of an. injury received on July 15 by falling on a concrete, floor.
